Werribee win North West Sunday Competition

Writer: Colin NewportColin Newport

Congratulations to the Werribee CC on winning the inaugural premiership of our North-West Sunday Competition defeating Plenty Valley at Soldiers Reserve this afternoon.

In a tight game, Plenty Valley won the toss and batted first and was dismissed for 110 with Captain Vanshjot Sandu top scoring with 40.

Plenty Valley failed to establish a substantial batting partnership throughout their innings losing wickets at critical times. The fielding of the Werribee side was outstanding. Reeve Oannu took returned excellent bowling figures of 3-27.

In reply, after a shaky start Werribee at one stage being 2-5 and then 3-34, took control with the bat reaching their target in the 28th over. Simrth Singh Gill top scored with 33 and Maahi Patel 31no, winner of the best player medal.

Thanks to the Werribee CC for their excellent hosting of the Final and the hospitality displayed to all participants, and to our 2 umpires in Jeremy Anthony & David D’Altera who did an excellent job.

On behalf of the Board, I thank all the clubs which participated in this competition, all the umpires who officiated in games and a special thank you to Board Member Brendan Davey who oversaw the running of the competition.

Regards
