This is a short bulletin (well, it was only a short fireside chat) but this will give umpires in the 1st and 2nd XI's more time to absorb the contents of VSDCA Rule 17 – One Day matches.
In 3rd and 4th XIs it’s back to Two Day cricket.
1. Another wet weekend is forecast – who’d have thought? – so Umpires Coach Brian Benny Goodman encourages all umpires to brush up on the lost time provisions of VSDCA Rule 17, particularly Rule 17.2.2. It’s a must read, best seller, and page turner for umpires, all in the space of a few short paragraphs.
2. Should the number of overs be revised to a lesser number than originally allotted
(note: a minimum of 25 overs per team) then a revised target score is set for the team batting second. Scorers will use one of two methods to determine this score
a. If the game is being e-scored on the PlayHQ app, the Duckworth Lewis in
PlayHQ will be used; or
b. If the game is not being e-scored, the Duckworth Lewis calculator in the MyCricket Live Score app.
3. Bowlers’ limits are reduced as the total match overs are reduced. The limit is one fifth of the adjusted maximum overs except for any bowler who has already reached the limit.
** Please note that umpire appointments in South East 3rd XI Division 1 will be made later today. There has been an issue in transferring the matches from PlayHQ into OfficialsHQ that should be resolved this morning. Apologies for any confusion.
Let’s hope we get some cricket played – try to stay dry, do your best, and have fun!
